Norma Ardene Pennington, 92, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at her home.
Norma was born January 13, 1928 in Lyons, Oregon, the daughter of Marvin and Freda (Garrison) Berry.
She grew up living in Lyons, Glendale, Oregon, and the Upper Calapooia, before moving to Lebanon in 1941, and graduating from Lebanon High School in 1946.
Norma married Paul Pennington November 22, 1947 in Lyons, Oregon, living in Lyons and Mehama before moving to Lebanon in 1969.
She was a Girl Scout leader of all three levels of scouting when her girls were growing up. Her son Lee, being small at that time, attended meetings with her.
Norma was a charter life member of the Lebanon Genealogical Society, and was a volunteer at the Genealogy Library. She joined the Rebekah Lodge in 1947 and was a life member of Pearl Rebekah Lodge, and life member of the Lebanon Odd Fellows Lodge. She was also a life member of the VFW Auxiliary and Sons and Daughters of the Oregon Pioneers, (her ancestor Jeremiah Rowland came to Oregon in 1844), and member of the Santiam Chapter of the Dar.
Norma liked doing genealogy, knitting, crocheting, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul on July 3, 2006 and brother, Willard Berry of Tillamook on June 7, 2017.
She is survived by her children; Paula Sahleen of Montana, Cheryl Nendel of Lebanon, Marlene Burns of Keizer, and Lee Pennington of Albany. Five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no services. Private interment will be at Fox Valley Cemetery in Lyons, Oregon. Contributions in her memory can be made to Pearl Rebekah Lodge or Lumina Hospice. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling final arrangements.
