It's so hard losing loved ones that were huge influences, mentors, teachers. Dorothy Lane was that "One". She was mom's best friend from high school and a second mom to me when my mom was absent for a long time. I spent summers on an all girl hay crew, picking beans, changing irrigation pipe, shoveling out cow barns, learning how to care for and ride the registered champion ponies on the farm- Lanes Welsh Ponies and late in the afternoons the rope swing dropped us in the river. She bought me my first pair of cowboy boots, taught me the importance of research, being straight forward, being responsible, listening to animal body language and innumerable other little but important things I would use in life. I hold those memories of her close to my heart...She was one of a kind human being.♡♡
