Robert “Bob” Lee Nelson, 90, of Lebanon, died, Sunday at his home.
Bob was born west of Lakeview, Oregon on October 12, 1924 to Charles Andrew and Mary Delphia Nelson. He attended Crane Creek Grade School and graduated for Lakeview High School in 1942. A year later he was drafted into the Army and served in the Pacific during W.W. II. Following his discharge he returned to Lakeview to the family farm.
Bob met Wanda Glaser and they married on March 29, 1952. Less than a year later they moved to Shedd, Oregon and began farming and raising a family in the Willamette Valley.
Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, his cattle and bees, but most of all his family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Wanda, 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Liz VanLeeuwen and Ivy VanLeeuwen. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Bernice Forga.
Viewing will be from 4 – 7:00 PM, Friday, Sept. 11, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Lebanon First Baptist Church. Private burial will be at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
